A Century of Brotherhood: Trevaunance Lodge 4668 Celebrates 100 Years

On June 10th, 2025, Trevaunance Lodge 4668 will mark a historic milestone—100 years since receiving its warrant. Nestled in the heart of St. Agnes, our lodge has stood as a beacon of Freemasonry in Cornwall for a century, upholding the timeless values of brotherhood, charity and integrity.

Trevaunance Lodge was consecrated in 1925 during a time of rapid expansion within Cornish Freemasonry. Owing to high membership numbers at Boscawen Lodge 699, Trevaunance was founded as a daughter lodge to accommodate the growing interest in Freemasonry in the area. In turn, Trevaunance itself would go on to found its own daughter lodge, Breanick Lodge 8610, contributing to the ever-growing tapestry of masonic life in Cornwall.

A Lodge Built on History

Trevaunance Lodge was founded during a period of growth for Freemasonry in the early 20th century. As St. Agnes thrived with its rich mining heritage and strong sense of community, the brethren of the lodge became woven into the very fabric of the town. The lodge building itself, a cornerstone of Masonic tradition, has seen generations of men come together in pursuit of self-improvement and service to others.

Over the past century, Trevaunance has welcomed numerous distinguished members, each contributing to the lodge’s legacy in their own way. From local leaders and philanthropists to those who served their country with honour, our brethren have upheld the highest principles of Freemasonry both within the temple and in their daily lives.

Several distinguished Masons continue to serve the lodge and the Province with great commitment. Among them:

  • WBro. Graham Jones, Grand Officer and Past Provincial Grand Secretary
  • WBro. Tim Burley, Past Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary
  • WBro. Damo Bawden, Provincial Grand Steward
  • WBro. Steve Whatley, Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon
  • WBro. David Hoskings, Provincial Grand Master’s Certificate of Services to Freemasonry

Their collective dedication and experience are a source of great pride for Trevaunance and serve as a shining example for the younger brethren.

A Tradition of Charity and Service

True to Masonic values, Trevaunance Lodge has consistently extended a helping hand to those in need. Throughout its history, the lodge has supported both Masonic and non-Masonic charities, offering aid to the vulnerable and championing causes that benefit the wider community. Whether through fundraising efforts, local initiatives, or direct assistance, the brethren of Trevaunance have embodied the principle of relief in action.

Looking to the Future

As we celebrate this momentous centenary, Trevaunance Lodge is not merely reflecting on the past but looking forward to a bright future. Under the capable leadership of Worshipful Master WBro. Dave Maitland, with the ongoing support of Immediate Past Master WBro. Steve Nicoll, the lodge continues to nurture a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for both new and experienced brethren.

New candidates bring fresh enthusiasm, ensuring that the values of Freemasonry remain as relevant today as they were 100 years ago. With a commitment to growth, tradition, and service, Trevaunance Lodge 4668 stands strong—ready to embark on the next century of Freemasonry in Cornwall.

This centenary is not only a celebration of Trevaunance Lodge, but also of the enduring power of Freemasonry itself—a force for good in individual lives, communities and society as a whole.

We extend heartfelt thanks to all past and present brethren, especially our senior members, whose guidance, example and service continue to shape our path forward.

Here’s to the past, present and future of our beloved lodge.
