COLVILLE SMITH LODGE HELD A CELEBRATION OF ROBBIE BURNS

Colville Smith Lodge No: 5738 https://pglcornwall.org.uk/news/lodge/colville-smith/ who meet at the Masonic Centre in Falmouth, celebrated Burns Night together with the members of St. Gluvias Lodge No: 7936 https://pglcornwall.org.uk/news/lodge/st-gluvias/

Worshipful Brother Ron Scamp PPJGW, the Secretary of Colville Smith Lodge, was tasked to organise the evening with regards to all bookings. Worshipful Brother Gavin Wilson PPGReg (Berkshire) a member of St. Gluvias Lodge based in Penryn was responsible for the evening, in the dining room.

The evening was oversubscribed as it attracted many Lodge members together with their wives and partners. The evening also attracted numerous visitors from outside of Cornwall and a special guest, Brother Darren Moore from St. Johns Lodge No: 32 in Selkirk, Scotland.

Worshipful Brother Gavin Wilson then presented a talk in the Lodge dining room, about Robert Burns – ‘his life and his poetry.’ He then addressed (Stabbed) the Haggis and paraded it through the temple and back to the dining room where the dinner was held. He was accompanied by Mrs. Sheila Furr, the wife of one of the Colville Smith members, together with the piper Bill Buchanan. Brother Stuart Douglas also a member of St. Gluvias Lodge played the accordion, whilst Worshipful Brother Rob Brown the Mentor of Colville Smith Lodge, played the Violin.

The Worshipful Master of Colville Smith Lodge, Worshipful Brother Brian Reeman, was joined by his wife Yvette, so they played the role of “Leaders of the Clan”

Funds were raised during the evening by Brother John Richardson of St. Gluvias and by Lawrence Bragg of Colville Smith Lodge.

The evening was very enjoyable for all concerned and concluded with the Piper leading everyone in singing “Aud Land Syne” and “Trelawney”
