A grant of £4,000 to the Cornwall Air Ambulance from the Freemasons meeting in Newquay and around Cornwall has now brought the total Masonic support given to air ambulances across the country to £2.3 million, since 2007.

The total contribution to Cornwall Air Ambulance since 2007 by the Freemasons of Cornwall is also in excess of £25,000.

The Cornwall Air Ambulance operates right across Cornwall and has been called to over 940 missions, so far this year, many of which have been lifesaving, conveying a vast number of seriously injured people to hospital and treating hundreds of patients on the ground.

The grant, which comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, is funded by Freemasons and their families from across England and Wales. During 2018, Freemasons from around the country will be presenting 20 regional air ambulances with grants totaling, £192,000.

Stephen Pearn the Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Cornwall stated: “Cornish Freemasons are immensely proud to be able to support the vital service of the Cornwall Air Ambulance. We are absolutely thrilled to have forged such close connections with the staff, doctors and aircrew over the years and long may this continue. We will endeavor to support this remarkable organisation with the incredible variety of fundraising achievements by our membership.”

Becky Wise, Community Fundraising Manager at Cornwall Air Ambulance said: “We are extremely grateful to Mr. Pearn and the Cornish Freemasons for their continuing generosity. Without continued support like this, the Cornwall Air Ambulance would not be able to carry on flying and our life-saving work could not continue.”

David Maskell the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Cornwall added: “With almost three and a half thousand Freemasons within Cornwall and growing daily, I am absolutely in awe of how much monies are raised by the Cornish Brethren each year in support of so many deserving charities, in our wider communities. Having been invited to Cornwall Air Ambulance to see the daily operations first hand for myself, I’m left speechless how much goes on behind the scenes. Without question, an absolutely vital service we will continue to support 100%.”
