Mike’s masonic career began when he was initiated into Trewinnard Lodge No. 6157 on Monday the 22nd of July 1974, He was Passed on 23rd September 1974 and Raised on 25th January 1975.
Installed as Worshipful Master on 24th April 1995, He went on to be the Secretary for 23 years until its closure in 2022. He became a joining member of Cornubian Lodge No. 450 in 2018 after Trewinnard and Cornubian had started the rather unique association that Mike had devised in 2016.
He has been a member of the following Craft Lodges: Sir Humphry Davy (9327), Cornish Ashlar (9446), Cornish Masters (3324), Robert Eliot (9482), St. Luke’s (5371), Mount Sinai (121) and finally as a member of the Lodge of the Chisel (9398) he was one of those instrumental in it becoming Cornwall’s University Scheme Lodge, on transition to which, he was the Installing Master for the first Installation and the first Secretary in its new capacity. In recognition of this service, he was made an Honorary Member.
Mike was appointed as an Active Provincial Junior Grand Deacon in 2002, promoted to Past Provincial Senior Grand Deacon two years later, and was further promoted to PProvJGW in 2010. In 2013 he was appointed as Provincial Grand Orator.
Grand Rank was to follow in 2016 and he was delighted to receive the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer. Mike was appointed as the Learning and Development Lead for Cornwall, a position he held until April this year. He was heavily involved with formulating and introducing Solomon through the UGLE. Giving presentations at Initiates meetings for new Brethren and their partners, also at the Wardens Workshops for Brethren approaching the Chair of their Lodge. He is a strong advocated for Lodges delivering their own and other suitable talks as a core part of their business. In recognition to his service Mike was promoted in Grand Rank to PAGDC in April this year at Grand Lodge.

Beyond the Craft, Mike was exalted into the Holy Royal Arch on 9th December 1976, reaching Most Excellent Zerubbabel of Hayle Royal Arch Chapter in both 2012 and 2017 and has served the Chapter as Scribe Ezra for 10 years. He is also a member of both Holy Mount and Cornish First Principals’ Chapters and holds the rank of Past Provincial Grand Scribe Nehemiah to which he was promoted in 2022. Mike is due to be further honoured with the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent’s Certificate of Service, which he will receive at the Annual Provincial Grand Chapter Convocation later this year.
He is additionally a member of Cornubian Mark Lodge and holds the rank of Past Provincial Grand Senior Overseer. He is the current Worshipful Commander of Cornubian Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners. Has been through the chair of Restormel Preceptory of Knights Templar and holds the rank of Past Provincial Sword Bearer. Mike has also been involved with the Red Cross of Constantine and the Royal and Select Masters.
Mike has achieved an excellent masonic career with devoted service to Freemasonry over the course of the last 50 years, many congratulations.
