An insight into the Provincial Communication Team

The following information is an insight into the Provincial Communication Team & Toolkit.  The Provincial Communication Team has been chosen from members within the Province of Cornwall who all share a common goal and have a passion and the drive to help ease the transfer of Communication throughout the entire Province. The main goal of the Communication Team is to help the Lodges and Brethren within the Province of Cornwall to improve Communication with one another with the addition of social media.

Our main objective is to collect any information which may be considered of interest to members of the general public and which will assist in promoting a more broad understanding of the work carried out by Freemasons, particularly the Freemasons of Cornwall. This information is then collated and submitted to local media, the Provincial website or even some Grand Lodge for publications if the event is important and deemed newsworthy. Obviously, for a more visual presentation, a photograph of the event and persons concerned would always be greatly appreciated.

In addition to assisting Provincial Grand Lodge, we are always available to offer advice and assistance to private Lodges in the organisation and presentation of their charitable events. You can contact us either by telephone or email on the information above.

Our Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro Stephen Pearn is very keen to encourage submission of articles to Grand Lodge for either the ‘Freemasonry Today’ magazine or the Masonic Samaritan Fund “In Need” publication. This does help to promote the efforts by our members and their Lodges for all the good work they do in raising money towards charity.

Wherever possible articles sent to the Area Communication Coordinator will be submitted to the Editor of that magazine for publication, and in that way we can do our part to promote Freemasonry in Cornwall. We can also assist in producing press releases for you, for your local newspaper if you would like assistance with promoting any event that you are planning in the future, or even after an event, if you have a suitable photograph of a cheque presentation or charity fund raiser.

Finally can we also remind the Brethren, especially the Masters and other senior officers of the Cornwall lodges that the Cornwall Masonic Benevolent Fund, along with the Grand Charity will also have a Charity Presentation day each year. If your lodge would like to participate in presenting your charity donations for your own charity at this joint event, please feel free to contact us, the Communication Team can invite your charities for you and take away all the work on your behalf or you can invite them and make your own arrangements for them to attend.

The success or failure of positive publicity with regards Freemasonry can only reflect on our own efforts made. Please do try to use the facilities available to help boost your own efforts, as without the input of information or promoting our charitable gifting, however small from our members, we will not be able to get across the message of helping in our local communities. I therefore urge you to contact myself or W Bro. Eddie Taylor whenever you feel you have an item of interest. I can assure you that nothing will be dismissed as being considered too small.
